Hi everyone! Happy October and Fall, my favorite season! This weeks post is my September Mini Review! I read 4 books this month and I could have read more, but I got hung up reading Conversations with Friends, which took me sitting down after 2 weeks for 3 hours to just finish it. I really want to love Sally Rooney’s books, but I just don’t think they’re for me. Overall, it was an okay book month, so I picked the two romance novels I read to review because I enjoyed them the most!
Synopsis: Sally Milz has given up on finding love, instead having a successful career as a sketch writer on the Saturday late-night live comedy show, “The Night Owls” and having the occasional hook-up. That is until pop superstar Noah Brewster becomes the newest musical guest and host for that week’s show. They hit it off instantly and it seems like he is really interested in her, but this is real life, not a romantic comedy, and someone like him would never be interested in her, right?
I picked this as my book of the month pick for April and decided to pick it up this month! Spanning over 5 years this story starts in 2018 and spans through Covid to 2023. I didn’t realize the story took place during Covid when I picked it, but I think the author did a great job writing about it. Spoiler and trigger warning, there is a section of the book about someone who gets Covid and what that is like. So if that’s something you don’t want to re-live, I recommend skipping this book. Besides the Covid aspect of it, the book was a quick read with a cute story line between Sally and Noah. And it was also based off of SNL, so it was interesting to read about the behind the scenes aspect of the show.

Synopsis: Vanessa Mazur is the personal assistant to Aiden Graves, one of the most well known defensive football players. For two years, she has done everything he needs without even a “good morning” from him. She always knew this job would be temporary, so she quits when her design business is becoming successful, and Aiden doesn’t seem to care. Until he shows up at her apartment wanting her to come back, and she can’t believe it. That is until he asks her an unimaginable request!
Mariana Zapata is the QUEEN of slow burns! I’ve also read her book From Lukov with Love and it is *chef’s kiss*. If you want a book with lots of spicy scenes, this is not the book for you. But if you want an enemies to lovers, fake marriage, football slow burn with spice at the end, then look no further! Don’t get me wrong I do love a good spicy book, but a slow burn with all of the will they won’t they build up is also fantastic! The only reason I took off a half star is because I felt like it was a little slow to get into, but besides that it is a great pick for a sports romance.
