Hi everyone! Happy Holidays! Since it’s officially winter time I thought I would give you some of my book recommendations for winter! When I was compiling this list I realized I hadn’t read many winter or holiday-themed books, so I branched out to find ones that I thought had winter vibes or would be a good read for dark chilly snowy nights. Here are my book recommendations for winter and the books I added to my winter TBR!
Romance Book Recommendations for Winter
From Lukov with Love – Mariana Zapata
Jasmine Santos has spent the last seventeen years competing in figure skating through broken bones and promises it’s her passion in life. Unfortunately, she realizes her time competing is coming to an end. That is until she gets the offer of a lifetime from Ivan Lukov, an arrogant skater who needs a new partner. Jasmine must put her thoughts about him aside, as this may be her last chance to compete professionally. Ivan is hard and unemotional and she could never fall for him, but as she takes a chance to be his skating partner, she finds there is more to him than she thought. (This is the sloowwwest burn and it’s *chef’s kiss*)
One Day in December – Josie Silver
Laurie does not believe in love at first sight. That is, until one snowy December day, she locks eyes with a man through the misted window of her bus and she instantly knows he is the one. It’s pure magic, but then her bus drives away. She spends the next year checking every bus stop hoping fate will intervene to bring them together again. She doesn’t find him, that is until her best friend Sarah introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s the man from the bus. The story that follows is ten years of missed opportunities, friendship, heartbreak, and roads not taken. This is a story about love and the fact that fate takes mysterious routes on the way to happiness.
Icebreaker – Hannah Grace
Anastasia Allen is a competitive figure skater. She has worked her entire life towards one goal, a shot at making Team USA. She is currently on the Maple Hills skating team, with a schedule that leaves her no time for romance. Stassie wants more than anything to win. Nathan Hawkins is the captain of the Maple Hills hockey team. He’s never had a problem he couldn’t solve. So when suddenly the hockey and skating teams have to share a rink, Stassie and Nate find themselves budding heads. That is until her skating partner injures himself and Nate steps in. As they spend more and more time together they find being stuck together isn’t the worst thing, it’s actually pretty great. But they both have overloaded schedules, and they continue to butt heads, they couldn’t fall for each other, right? (This is a very spicy read!!)
Fiction Book Recommendations for Winter
The Great Alone – Kristin Hannah
Leni Allbright has always been caught in the middle of her parent’s volatile, passionate relationship. It wasn’t always like that though, but her father Ernt has completely changed after coming home from the Vietnam War. He is angry and aggressive and when he loses another job he impulsively uproots his family and moves them to the harsh, unpredictable lands of Alaska. Cora, Leni’s mother will do anything for the man she loves, so they go. Leni is hoping this new home will change her family’s future, but Alaska can be unforgiving. Moving to a remote area with a small community with no knowledge of the area is reckless, but the locals’ generosity helps them prepare. As winter and looming darkness approaches, the outside dangers don’t seem as scary as the dangers in their own cabin. As Ernt becomes more volatile, Leni and her mother realize they are alone and “there is no one to save them but themselves.”
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow – Gabrielle Zevin
This is the story of two friends, often in love, but never with each other, who came together to design a video game. Sam Masur and Sadie Green first met when they were kids at a hospital in California where they bonded over their love of video games. Before graduating college, they created their first hit, Ichigo. What follows is 30 years of rediscovery, failures, redemptions, and discovering what it truly means to be loved.
What I’m Reading this Winer
I picked eight books for my Winter TBR. I picked some that were winter-themed, others that have been on my TBR for a while, and then a couple that are recent additions that I really want to read! I’m very much a mood reader, but I’m hoping to read all eight! I read five of the eight Fall TBR books, so I’m hopeful!
I hope you enjoyed my book recommendations for winter! Comment down below if you’ve read any of these or if there are other winter or holiday-themed books I should add to my TBR! Make sure to check out the Books category on my home page for other book recommendations. Thank you so much for your continued support! Give me a follow on Instagram or Facebook to stay updated about when I post!
Take care and stay safe,
Renée
